GTASA Beta comparassion from magazine image
Comparassion made by me |
The GTASA released in 2004 for PlayStation2 as we know it, emerged directly from GTA Vice City (released a year before). As the PS2 version is the first release of the game, it is the closest version to the development. In 2005, Rockstar Games released it for Original Xbox and Microsoft Windows excluding, and including things, but the biggest difference between the 2004 vs 2005 is that the newer version removed the orange sky in Los Santos which is disappoing for some players (like me).
We can conclude from this image that:
- GTASA used some GTA: Vice City cars and colors.
- East Los Santos basketball court had fence.
- The lamp lights looked like the GTA Vice City graphics.
- The beta pic shows that Rockstar already decreased the draw distance (compared to GTAVC).
- On beta the car lights are the same from GTAVC.
- R* already added the Night Vertex Colors (NVC) interpolation on map models.
This we can't know (I think)
- Which Renderware version the beta used, or if it is the same of GTAVC, or any other.
Facts
- The GTAVC used Renderware v.3.4.0.3 and GTASA 1.0 for Windows used v.3.6.0.3.
- GTASA used a new complex audio, script, paths, LOD and Image system.
- GTASA changed the way it calculates the shades of the Vertex Color objects.
